Ecofeminism takes its name from Françoise d’Eaubonne’s term ecofeminisme, which appeared in her 1974 book, Le Féminisme ou la Mort, in which d’Eaubonne calls for a feminist revolution in order to assure global ecological survival. At its core, ecofeminism addresses the various ways that misogyny, heteronormativity, white supremacy, colonialism, and ableism are informed by and support anthropocentrism (or androcentrism), and how analyzing the ways these forces interconnect can produce less violent, more just practices and ways of living.
